Buckminster Fuller by Lars Müller
Swiss art and design publisher Lars Müller have republished the legendary Your Private Sky reader about Buckminster Fuller, inventor of the geodesic dome.
As global news continues to confuse and dismay, it’s no wonder interest has grown again in R Buckminster Fuller, who famously said: “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
A polymath that produced an unrivalled vision for changing the course of what he called “spaceship Earth”, Fuller was an architect, systems theorist, author, designer and inventor. Proffering a revolutionary approach to technology that is not simply about accelerationism but about upheaving the system, Fuller was dedicated to figuring out “how to make the world work”.
The reedition of the legendary visual reader published in 1999, Your Private Sky, by Lars Müller Publishers could not be timelier. Edited by Joachim Krausse and Claude Lichtenstein, the 528-page tome includes key original texts by Fuller, as well as other writers about him. Some 600 illustrations includes plans and photographs, but the real treat is the fascinating scans of his notebooks.
