As always, Italian brand Edra is set to turn up in multiple venues during the Salone, not least at the furniture fair itself, where the “Standard” sofa can be found in the “Red Lounge” setting. Sofa maestro Francesco Binfaré‘s 2013 design is also featured in a new campaign, photographed by Giovanni Gastel and on view at Vago Forniture (Via Crocefisso 27). Meanwhile, the Triennale di Milano sees a special installation of Jacopo Foggini‘s “Gina” chair, 37 of which will be assembled into a kind of large-scale chandelier known as “ONEHUNDREDFORTYEIGHT LEGS”.

However, it is Edra’s longtime collaboration with Fernando and Humberto Campana that prefigures a major partnership this August. On Friday, the storied manufacturer announced that it will be the official supplier of Casa Italia, the headquarters of CONI (the Italian National Olympic Committee) on the occasion of the 2016 games in Rio. The Brazilian brothers’ iconic container designs for Edra will appear at museums such as the new MUDEC (“Cabana“) and the Poldi Pezzoli Museum (“Scrigno“), while the classic “Vermelha” chair will be featured on stage at the world preview of Abitare’s “Year of the Design 2016/2017”.
