TLmag 31 Extended: Islands of Creation

If urban landscapes no longer move us, islands seem to us like an earthly paradise, perhaps lost in a flow of climate change. While nature is at risk, the human is still very much alive. That is what the artists, designers and photographers interviewed and invited into these extended pages of TLmags 31st print edition translate with their creations and in their simultaneously documentary, critical and poetic gaze, between the materiality of our planet and the fragility of the life that remains for us.

Vincent Fournier

In this extensive conversation between Christian Larsen and photographer Vincent Fournier, we learn about the aesthetics and interests behind ‘Brasília, A Time Capsule’, a series which investigates the architecture, landscape, and people of Brasília (Brazil).

If her concept for building an island bridge out of salt in the middle of the Dead Sea becomes a reality, artist Sigalit Landau will have created a symbol for connection and hope in the Middle East

With her image as the cover for TLmag’s 31st print edition, we decided to take a stroll down memory lane and take another look at Amy Hilton’s ever more relevant reflections on how isolation and solitude are among the keys to gaining a sense of unrestrained creativity.

Sarah Schug dove into the exhilarating art scene of Iceland together with photographer Pauline Mikó, to create the book Isle of Art. It reads as a journey in which the Iceland’s artistic landscape is introduced in 256 pages, meeting artists, curators, collectors, museums, and many more. TLmag caught up with Sarah Shug to learn more about this adventure.
