Contemporary art fair : Art Brussels 2015

For the 33rd edition of Art Brussels – 24-27 April – the contemporary art fair will bring together 191 local and international galleries represented in three main sections: Prime, Young and Discovery, whereas before it only offer two.

The Prime section will feature 87 galleries including Gladstone and Rodolphe Janssen – both representing some of the most influential contemporary artists today like Anish Kapoor and Sarah Lucas.

The Young section will host 90 galleries – presenting the work of emerging artists – among which the largest growth in newcomers has come from the United States. They include: New York and Eleven Rivington, Zieher Smith & Horton but also Dutch gallery Stigter Van Doesburg, Grimm Gallery and Juliette Jongma.

Within the Discover section, 14 galleries focus on revealing up-and-coming talents that are not yet know in Western Europe. This platform is  supported by Anglo Belgian agency Special Risks with projects selected by a committee of international curators including Palais de Tokyo‘s Daria de Beauvais from, Objective Exhibitions and Kunstverein München Chris Fitzpatrick, Nieuwe Vide and De Appel Arts Centre‘s  Nathalie Harjtes, Staatliche Kunsthalle‘s Johan Holten and Art Brussels‘ Katerina Gregos.

As in previous years, Art Brussels will also place emphasis on individual presentation of artists with 31 galleries presenting Solo projects – a prize for the best artist is presented by Van Den Weghe – the Belgian high-end natural stone company. For the third year in a row, Art Brussels is also proud to present a special not-for-profit section. Artistic director Katerina Gregos has given carte blanche to the following 6 initiatives: 1) c-o-m-p-o-s-i-t-e Brussels, Artists Club-Coffre Fort Brussels, 3) Enough Room for Space Brussels, Nieuwe Vide Haarlem, The Institute for Human Activities and RONGWRONG Amsterdam.

Art Brussels will take place in Brussels Expo from 25-27 April 2015.
