Hughes is co-founder of Karikol, the Brussels Slow Food convivium. He is also a freelance journalist, and has been writing extensively for the specialist economic press for over ten years covering energy issues and European affairs, before recently converting to food journalism via his blog Les Nouvelles du Goût du Monde, and his restaurant guide to the European quarter Brussels’ Eurodistrict Restaurants 2010. A confirmed hedonist, he has also published Divin quotidien, a Slow book that invites the reader to practise « self ecology».
