Dynamic Danish brand & Tradition steals the show at last month’s ICFF. Bringing the best of its ‘new nordic’ collection to New York – bridging re-editions with contemporary commissions – the Copenhagen-based design house reveals seven new collections. Staged among already recognised furnishings and accessories – Cloud Two Seater by Luca Nichetto, True Colour vases by Lex Pott or Fly Sofa by Space Copenhagen – the revived Flowerpots lamp by Danish legend Verne Panton joined Spanish heavy weight Jamie Hayon’s Palette desk. While the semi circular light evokes memories of the flower power movement, the multi-tiered desk takes reference from an Alexander Calder mobile. Both design are available in different material and finish combinations. & Traditions continues its historical focus with Danish superstar Arne Jacobsen’s highly modern and conical Bellevue lamp. On the contemporary side, Swiss designer Isabell Gatzen pulled from experience designing consumer electronic products when conceiving the modular and stackable 721 Gram candle holder. Laying the ground work for & Tradition’s craft-oriented approach, All The Way From Paris develops the monochromatic and geometric Moor rug series. The danish boutique brand’s commitment to transcending the past and present is evident as ever.
