PROOFFlab magazine: Essayists vs. Designers

Through the on-slot of furniture, textile and new technological applications that made up this year’s Milan Design Week (14-19 April), Studio Makkink&Bey-headed PROOFFlab Magazine joined a select group of international design institutions-cum-initiatives – including Space Caviar, Maniera, Unfold, Synopsis and Jongeriuslab, all of which push for a more analytical and future-oriented approach – to present an entirely unique confrontation between text-based and physical endeavours. Set within the grand Palazzo Clerchi, this editorial cell-inspired exhibition played host to a series of morning debate series while highlighting PROOFFlab Magazine’s research in work space innovation with a modular pop up shop-like scenography. Curated by PROOFFlab editor in chief Jules van den Langenberg, the showcase brought together the likes of Sander Manse, Lissa Zengerink, Elise van Mourik, Tom Loois, Jan Pieter Kaptein, Yuri Veerman, Tamara van Esch, Arnout Meijer, Dieter Michael Krone, Govert Flint, Jelle Mastenbroek, Mugi Yamamotto and Lana Dumitru – all of which have offered up damming assessments on the role of today’s office spheres in either form or word. Specific designs where choose to respond to specific essays and vice versa.
