Dimitri Bähler Wins Grand Prize Winner of Interieur Awards

As with many of the special exhibitions at the Biennale Interieur, the Click! Interieur Awards presentation was a highlight from the 25th Silver Edition of the event. And among the 18 winners, one young talent was honored with pride of place in the all-white scenography. The Interieur Awards jury duly recognized Dimitri Bähler‘s ceramics with the Grand Prize in the OBJECTS category.

The ECAL grad’s ‘Volumes, Patterns, Textures and Colors’ series has been years in the making. It originated at the EKWC (European Ceramic Work Centre) in Den Bosch in 2013, when Bähler did an exchange at the Design Academy Eindhoven. After gaining recognition for the inital ‘Patterns & Colors’ series at Villa Noailles, Bähler returned to his native Switzerland and accepted an invitation for a residency at CERCCO. The Experimentation and Research Center for Contemporary Ceramics of the Geneva University of Art and Design allowed him to continue his experiments with volumes and textures.

Bähler ultimately arrived at three techniques: digital, manual, and natural. Taken together, the pieces make up the award-winning ‘Volumes, Patterns, Textures and Colors’ series.
