Spazio Nobile Studiolo presents Fabian von Spreckelsen, Soul Memories, a solo exhibition of new work featuring von Spreckelsen’s unique paintings made with metallic materials including bronze, copper and steel, as well as his functional collectible furniture collection in which he uses leather and iron.

Ferron Crystallized Paintings

Fabian von Spreckelsen searches for a new perspective in discovering the materiality and deepening the core to the crystallization, which is the most powerful way to find its pure element and essence. The result of the crystallization process is never stable, it is a constant quest. At the same time, it reflects the artist’s exploration of simplicity in form and materiality by using only genuine conceptual and high craft sources. Perceived as an act of playfulness, von Spreckelsen has discovered qualities with new alloys combining steel with copper and brass. He aims with his Ferron Crystallized Paintings at discovering and inventing new appearances of a never seen material that could come out of space or from another planet in our solar system. Bringing the steel back to the core of ferro-alloy under a tremendous heat, sometimes combining it with copper and/or brass, gives him the freedom to create new places and spaces to explore. At Spazio Nobile Studiolo, von Spreckelsen invites you to come close to his findings that is sensible to the world of pure metal.

Leather Cabinets, functional collectible furniture

Combining two organic materials, weathered iron and tanned leather, Fabian von Spreckelsen presents a new collection of seven cabinets, each symbolising an important stage in his existence. The ritual lies in the simple gesture of lifting the leather to reveal the interior of the furniture- sculpture. “In life, we reach different stages; periods punctuated by experiences and discoveries. The cabinets refer to the objects of this daily, emotional and spiritual experience. They are made to connect these personal stories: the significant books, the cocktail bar, the little secrets, the keys to independence, the comfort and reassurance of loved ones, the treasures and memories, the personal diary, etc.” These evolving, bespoke «personal cupboards» take the form of their object.

Fabian von Spreckelsen, Soul Memories, will be on view at Spazio Nobile Studiolo through January 29, 2023.
