Lasvit is a contemporary lighting manufacturer founded in 2007 and based in Czech Republic. During the Milan furniture fair, the company presented nine unique lighting installations : (E)MOTIONS. Made by different designers, it was an extraordinary showcase with specific emotions with a beauty given by the movement, the light or the staticity. It was never seen before and very fascinating.

Our favorite was the Crystal Rock Pendant Light made by the Israeli designer Arik Levy. Beautiful suspended trivial forms in differents colours challenging the gravity and playing with reflections and opacities. It stays wonderful even when it’s off, as he promised.

The czech designer Maxim Velčovský created Frozen, a serie of hanging glass lamps, made by pouring molten glass over a dome-shaped mould and let it cooling. That’s surely what gave this little melting ice look and the illusion went further with the drops of water running down!

There is craftsmanship, there is poetry behind each collection and this year there is also a lot of technology on show, I believe we are the first company to combine glass art with really advanced technology.” – explained Leon Jakimič, Lasvit founder/president.

The other spectacular one was the Ice Chandelier designed by Daniel Libeskind and formed by blowing glass into molds to create modular geometric shapes that captures the light and gave this amazing brilliance.
