Submerged in the transformative movement of ice, water or that of sand into molten glass, renowned artist Jeff Zimmerman debuts a new series of function vessels, lamps and sculptures at New York’s R & Company from 19 January to 20 February. Offering an alternative to digital fabrication – that itself attempts to mimic complex natural structure – these new works demonstrate the mastery of motifs achieved on both macro and micro scales. The theme of time within nature’s seemingly passive yet innate process is expressed through sublime and geometric crystal shells while organic forms render in silverglass. Zimmerman’s high skill marries perfectly with deep conceptual reasoning.

Jeff Zimmerman at R & Company: 82 Franklin St, New York from 16 January–20 February 2016.
