MOMU X BULO — Frederik Heyman And Wout Bosschaert
To mark the occasion of Bulo’s fiftieth anniversary, MoMu and Bulo, the Mechelen furniture manufacturer, team up for a creative collaboration. Creativity and the cooperation with creative minds are intrinsically linked to the DNA of both houses. Respect for the own heritage and nurturing craftsmanship are key. How can we translate this valuable craftsmanship into the needs of future generations, so that functionality and products, not merely today but also tomorrow, will remain relevant, innovative and challenging?
Christian Salez, Bulo CEO, asked Kaat Debo, Director of MoMu, to share her thoughts on the interaction between crafts and digitality, need and aspiration. Kaat Debo reacted by inviting visual artist Frederik Heyman to work on the MoMu collection, in a way that transcends the static character of a traditional exhibition. For MOMU3, Heyman creates, in collaboration with graphic artist Wout Bosschaert, 3 fashion films in which he infuses the rich collection of the ModeMuseum with digital life by using 3D scans and manipulations.
The films will be shown previewed from 10 October in the renewed Bulo headquarters in Mechelen, which has been reshaped into a workshop for architects and designers and will remain on display until the end of November. They will be screened on 15 and 16 October at ‘ASVOFF 6’, the renowned fashion film festival of fashion journalist Diane Pernet, which will be hosted for the first time in Antwerp on the initiative of MoMu.
