For the latest in superior surfaces, make sure to diarise the upcoming MoOD and Indigo Brussels. Producers of upholstery, window and wall coverings, many using cutting-edge technology such as LEDs, digital printing, e-embroidery and conductive inks, will again constitute the MoOD exhibition for the residential and contract markets. Home textile and surface designers will take up space at Indigo Brussels.

This will be the second year that the events are hosted by the Tour & Taxis event venue in Brussels, following the positive visitor and exhibitor feedback last year. MoOD Innovation will also make a comeback with its Launchpad for emerging businesses and designers, sample bank, and for the first time, an extra focus on new materials. Hannah Croft of MUUNA’s experimental embroidered materials with cultivated mineral surfaces is just one of the pioneering participants curated by Trendease International. Other curators who will present sample banks and emerging designers are matériO Belgium, Colour Hive and Masters of Linen, as well as newcomers Material Lab & Treniq.

MoOd Tech, brand new platform, will showcase how smart textiles, thermochromic inks and conductive embroidery are driving the surface industry to new heights. The digital printing section, for instance, will include new substrates from Ahlstrom, novel inks, supporting software, print service providers, and even product launches like Big Impact’s Haptic 2.5D Textural Printing.

Informative and inspiring talks about trends and industry developments – such as micro-manufacturing, digital printing, conductive embroidery, smart textiles and the business potential of textile waste and scraps – are also on the cards, so keep an eye on the website for the newest developments.

Through her unique processes that build up and take away materials, her work refers to the growth of nature and its destruction. They are like a metaphor of life, which advances by adding experiences and the subtractive experience of time. All of the work is about finding the balance point between those extremes.
