Preview MOST Salone – Milan 2013
MOST Salone is taking place between 9th and 14th of April 2013, at Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia, in Milan. The event was previously launched in 2012, during Salone del Mobile, at the initiative of Tom Dixon and benefited of 30.000 visitors.
This year, MOST is focusing on the theme of ”disrupting design” – returning power to the designer, aiming to discover new talents in the design field. For example Fab, the world’s fastest growing e-commerce site, is calling on designers to present their ideas to a panel of design experts. The best new designs chosen will be manufactured and sold by Fab.
The visitors can also enjoy the most innovative furniture and lighting creations of leading international brands in separate exhibitions, such as Studio Job and Piet Hein Eek , from the Netherlands or School of Form and Lorens, from Poland.
In addition, the European project, GLASS IS TOMORROW, put in place by Pro Materia, will exhibit high level contemporary glass designs from Finland, the Czech Republic and France. The aim of the project is to explore glass aesthetics and techniques, in order to develop new typologies of everyday objects.
Finally Tom Dixon is going to present his newest lighting designs, made of materials ranging from sand-cast nickel-plated aluminium to ultra-polished chromed pressed steel, from the collection Rough & Smooth. The visitor is encouraged to take an unexpected trip, starting in a warehouse and arriving eventually in a shiny showroom.
