Nova by SOFTlab for Flatiron Partnership & Van Alen Institute
As something of a ‘north star’ focal point for the vibrant Flatiron neighbourhood of New York, the Van Alen Institute, 23rd Street Partnership and Business Improvement District mount SOFTlab‘s Nova. The winning Holiday Design Competition pavilion serves as a poignant backdrop for rich programming throughout the season. As something of a camera obscura-cum-telescope, geometric apertures frame different landmarks identified throughout the New York skyline: The Empire State, Met Life or the actual Flatiron buildings. Once inside, visitors feel as though they’ve entered a kaleidoscope – different coloured surfaces reflect a mix of reflections making for a sublime experience.
