Talisman by IN Residence
Celebrating IN Residence’s 10th anniversary, 45 designers have created a talisman to be exhibited and auctioned at Atelier Clerici during Milan Design Week.
“Conceived as an object that survives its own history and mythology, the talisman can become the icon of the post-global era, simulacrum of an elsewhere that dwells in the ‘here and now’ and can be contaminated in this or any other place,” write Barbara Brondi and Marco Rainò in the catalogue of Talisman.
Founded by Brondi and Rainò, the IN Residence cultural initiative celebrates its 10th anniversary at Atelier Clerici during Milan Design Week this year. For the Talisman exhibition, 45 designers who have been involved with IN Residence have each made an object. The works will be auctioned on Saturday April 8 at 3pm.
“[Present] always and everywhere, this ‘device’ that amplifies meaningful symbolic values has belonged to all places and all times, establishing a profound, instinctive and pre-logical, necessary and indispensable relationship with human beings, often marked by feelings of intense affection – or even devotion – on the part of its owner,” the curators continue.
Participants include 45 kilo, Atelier NL, BCXSY, Pieke Bergmans, Matteo Cibic, Marlène Huissoud, Julia Lohmann, Sabine Marcelis, Mischer’Traxler, OS ∆ OOS and Philipp Weber.
