A beauty at times purposefully imperfect, a quest for the immaterial and the true essence of things, small moments caught in the passing of time, nature, matter and light, sublimated. These are the ingredients in this Autumn-Winter edition of TLmag, out now. Taking a contemporary and interdisciplinary look at the personalities who energise the soul between these two continents, these pages are dedicated to the aesthetic of perfection and chaos, Wabi Sabi, and the liquid light that is the subject of a magnificent fashion, light and designer perfume portfolio, photographed by TLmag in the gardens of the musée Guimet in Paris. A series of delightful encounters with enlightened minds transports us in to the heart of their  clear and introspective visions, in to the density of the Asian cities and into the grandiose landscapes of the Nordic countries. Strength plays a role in the quality of architecture, fashion, art and design, a source of meditation and spirituality. Among the highlights: Aric Chen, Brenden Cormier, Jan Boelen and Benedicte Sunde dialogue around the major museums’ worksites and cultural values that unite East Asia and North Europe. Taku Satoh and Tokuyin Yoshioka speak to us about the future retrospective in Tokyo on visionary fashion designer Issey Miyake, followed by Ingo Maurer and his paper lights. Aldo Bakker, Xavier Lust, Sebastian Herkner, Wonmin Park and Oki Sato – nendo draw us into their universes of form, while architects and designers Neri & Hu, Andre Fu and Vincent Van Duysen sketch out a philosophy that combines the space of identity, art and a new minimalism. Touching down in Taiwan, Korea and Japan, design-led crafts intersect between the countries of northern and eastern Asia (A New Layer, Korea Now!, Handmade Japan, Puls Gallery), taking inspiration from ancestral traditions and pushing them towards innovative contemporary designs. Standing out in this vast creative field, duo designers including Ahonen & Lamberg, the Bouroullecs, Barber Osgerby, Riener Bosch, Studio Swine,Maison Kitsuné, join great architects Tadao Ando (Naoshima), Takashi Hosaka, Kengo Kuma, Moreau-Kusunoki, Reiulf Ramstad, Sanaa, Snøhetta and Li-Xiodong, as well as brands such as Brokis, Bocci, Nikari and Delvaux. In keeping with these cultural idiosyncrasies, Lionel Beccat and Philippe Di Méo join us in Tokyo for a meeting around “Liquides imaginaires” and culinary flavours, while Gjertrud Hals plunges us into Shintoism and a Norwegian fjord, Chiharu Shiota into her memories, and Yayoi Kusama into her psychedelic space.
