Vortex project by Vincent Breed is the result of a meeting between light artist Jean Piton and a historical Burgundy-based tapestry manufacture – specialised in over-sized artistic carpets. As an glass artist, Vincent Breed confronts space the glass with a new gravity – a characteristic channeled in his latest voluminous tapestry. like architecture, Breed’s new carpets create living spaces that attract the eye as much as the hand. Neither abstract nor figurative, only lines and shapes transmit an algorithmic feeling of power and movement. Entirely handmade in France, Vortex features massive engraved glass lenses that emulate tufted and carved wool ripples. The patented optical fiber weavings seamlessly integrate into the structure of these locus-points. Vortex is currently on show at Philippe Hurel‘s Paris gallery. Much more than a showroom, Philippe Hurel offers a space for awareness. Through his curated selection, he aims a re-contextualising objects, the intentions behind them and the values they express.
