Pierre Marie Giraud Gallery, Squeeze collection by Jos Devriendt
During Brussels Art Days – 11 to 13 September – Pierre Marie Giraud will open the season with the Belgian artist-designer Jos Devriendt and his exhibition entitled “Squeeze”. Founded in 2005, the gallery specializes in unique and limited-edition pieces by international artists working in ceramics, glass and silver. The minimalist and light-filled interiors of the gallery, which is housed in an elegant nineteenth-century townhouse, reflect Giraud’s approach towards the presentation and appreciation of contemporary applied arts. At the same time, the spaces are domestic in scale, which reinforces the link between art and the everyday life. The gallery is known for exhibiting only the very best and most original makers, and work that embodies conceptual, technical and aesthetic innovation. Devriendt‘s works are based on a late surrealistic concept; his industrial designs are handcrafted and present simple solutions for rather complex problems. His collections comprises vases, lamps, and other objects that resonate with the intensity of minimalist sculpture.
