Handmade Leather Bags by Archipel
This spring, Sebastien Cordoleani is pleased to present his debut collection of handmade bags under the Archipel moniker. It started three years ago, when the industrial designer was invited to a residency to Isola Comacina in Lake Como, where he was working with recycled leather and arrived at a design for a bag made from a single piece of material, folded with no seams to speak of.
Using only the highest quality vegetable-tanned leather from local suppliers, Cordoleani looks to combine semi-industrial production — precision cutting tools — with craft: Each bag is made at his atelier in the Montmartre District of Paris. A simple strap and brass fasteners complete the simple, elegant aesthetic of the bags, which are meant to age beautifully with use. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kiss Kiss Bank Bank, Archipel products are available in seven sizes and in three different colors.
