American Design Club: Spotting America’s Design Potential
Launched in 2008, Brooklyn-based American Design Club works to represent and support up-and-coming talents from across the country at major fairs, events and social engagements. Founded by designers in their own right Annie Lenon, Kiel Mead and Henry Julier along with Samuel Cochran and Sarah Boatright, American Design Club showcases bold and craft-oriented lighting, furniture, accessories and jewellery.
Looking to spotlight America’s design potential, an underbelly as strong as its European counterpart, this new platform mounts everything from theme shows to special collections and competitions. Recent American Design Club collections include Curse the Darkness candleholder series, which was an open call at the last Sight Unseen fair during NYCxDesign 2015. Many projects have gone on to production, such as Section by Chien Hua Huang at TLmag23-featured Roll & Hill.
