Umprum Summer 2015
UMPRUM – the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design founded in 1885 in Prague – invites the public into its studios for the regular presentation of semestral and undergraduate work entitled Artsemestr from 11 to 15 June 2015. The Academy is divided into six departments — Architecture, Design, Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Graphics and Theory and History of Art. Individual departments are further divided into ateliers according to their specialisation, led by respected personalities. This year is exceptional for the Academy and its students, as the institution is celebrating the 130th anniversary of its founding. The main part of the celebrations will take place in autumn. However, visitors already have the opportunity of examining what directions contemporary Design, Graphics and Architecture are following in 2015. Artsemestr is a regular presentation of work for the general public by students of the Academy. For students, Artsemestr represents one of the most important periods in their studies. The projects exhibited here by students represent the most valuable of their semestral work. The public has an exceptional opportunity of viewing what visions and ideas, materials and processes are crucial for students at the present moment. The number of studios and their particular specialisations (Architecture, Design, Fine Arts, Graphics and Applied Arts) present a wide range of expression. Consequently, this show is becoming the most comprehensive and varied perspective on current young creation in Art and Applied Design.
