Applications for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2027 are now being accepted until October 15th, 2027. There will be an award ceremony and exhibition of the 30 short-listed artists in Europe in the spring of 2027. The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize was founded in 2016 with a mission of showcasing and celebrating excellence, artistic merit and newness in modern craft. Now in its 10th edition, the Craft Prize it has become one of the most anticipated prizes of the year across art, design and craft. With its rigorous approach to selecting finalists, its global reach and diverse vision, along with its generous promotion of the winners, through exhibitions and financial awards, the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize is an important acknowledgement about craft culture today. The winner will receive 50,000 euros and the two special mentions will each receive 5,000 euros.
For this tenth edition, established members of the jury, several of whom have been with the prize since its founding, will be joined for this edition by mixed media artist Ibrahim Mahama; Jongjin Park, winner of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2026; as well as LOEWE creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, who participated in the jury for the first time in 2026. The panel’s choice will be based on a number of key criteria: originality, clear artistic vision and merit, precise execution, material excellence, innovative value and a distinct authorial mark.

Over this past decade, the Craft Prize has become a platform for an ever-growing community of artists and artisans around the globe, showcasing work that inspires new ways of thinking about craft and its place in contemporary culture. Year on year, the prize has affirmed the infinite possibilities of craft and its capacity to evolve and surprise us. I greatly look forward to discovering the remarkable ideas, perspectives, and works this edition will bring.”
The 2026 edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize received over 5,100 submissions from 133 countries and regions around the world. The winner of the 2026 prize was Jongjin Park, with his sculptural work titled Strata of Illusion, made from paper and porcelain slip. The special mentions were awarded to Granziano Visintin for Collier, two necklaces composed of tiny cubes built from thin sheets of gold and decorated with ancient metalworking techniques of niello, and to Baba Tree Master Weavers ((Mary Anaba, Charity Aveamah Atuah, Christiana Anaba Akolpoka, Asakiloro Aduko, Mary Ayinbogra, Teni Ayine, Subolo Ayine and Punka Joe) with Álvaro Catalán de Ocón for Frafra Tapestry, crafted in natural and dyed elephant grass using both aerial imagery and traditional basketry techniques. The awards were presented in Singapore.
In addition to the Craft Prize, the LOEWE FOUNDATION has created The Room, a digital platform dedicated to showcasing works by the artists nominated for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize. This thoughtfully conceived platform enables the artists to share their work with a global audience and offer the opportunity to discover, research and collect art by some of the world’s most innovative craftspeople working today.
