The Spanish artist and designer, Netherlands-based, Nacho Carbonell presents in this video his last project : From Dust to Dust. As the artist explains : “From dust to dust” paired with a paster block, transforms into dust by scratching the surface over the course of the time, penetrating into the new layer, like changing into something else, discovering , finding, creating new stages.”

Carbonell creates design pieces generally with organic-animated forms and surfaces. Known for his habit of using unconventional materials and playing with perceptions, his studio focus on conceptually objects and installations, analysing what happens when the form meets the function.

His work is represented by Galleria Rossana Orlandi in Milan and Galerie BSL in Paris. He works also with Design Miami/Basel, where he and BSL Gallery presented the new collection of Clock “Time is a Treasure” in 2013. “In the end the stones gave me the idea of what they wanted to be, their frustration fuelled their desire. By imagining my own clocks, I wanted to reinstate them with what had been taken from them”.

“Time is a Treasure”

“I like to see objects as living organisms, imagining them coming alive and being able to surprise you with their behaviour. I want to create objects with my hands, then I can give them my personality. I turn them into communicative objects that can arouse one’s sensations and imagination. In short, what I want to create are objects with a fictional or fantasy element, that allow you to escape everyday life.”
