Galleria Nilufar Presents Federico Peri at MiArt
For the 21st Edition of the MiArt Fair, Galleria Nilufar presented a collection of new furniture and lighting designs by emerging Italian designer Federico Peri.
Making the most of its location in the heart of Milan, Galleria Nilufar is wrapping up a whirlwind week, not just on the occasion of the Salone but starting last weekend with the MiArt festival, which took place at the Fiera the weekend prior. From 7–10 April, the 21st edition of the modern and contemporary art fair saw over 45,000 visitors in three days, an 11% increase over the previous year.
Among the 154 participating galleries, Nilufar presented a collection of half a dozen new furniture and lighting designs by emerging Italian designer Federico Peri. An interior designer by training and trade, the 32-year-old designer made his first foray into custom furniture just two years ago, in 2014. The new pieces collectively nod toward vintage ’50s designs, updated as skillful assemblages of luxe materials. Equally inspired by industrial furniture, the metal structural members alternate with solid volumes, to the effect that each piece is a kind of a hybrid, from the “Scaffale d’arte” shelving unit with a built-in desk to the ladder-like “Biblioteca Itinerante” bookcase, with its integrated reading chair.
Peri’s work was presented alongside a selection of Persian rugs that actually date back to the 1950s, as well asCaturegli and Formica’s “P.C2” rug from their “Chromosome” collection. The MiArt exhibition also included a number of vintage Brazilian pieces as a prelude to Nilufar’s gallery exhibition for the Fuorisalone.

The earthy hues of terracotta, the textures of pine needles or ancient mosaic floors are inspirations for Milan-based designer and creative, Marialaura Irvine. She recently presented a new tapestry, Oplontis, with Spazio Nobile Gallery.
