After graduating from faculty of architecture, Hale Şener received her master’s degree in interior architecture from Domus Academy Milano. She has been in this profession for 10 years and has a simple, dynamic and innovative style of design. Mostly designing lighting fixtures, she says “Design was always in my life, even before school. I have always been in an effort to create something since childhood. Creating a new product or space gives you a great pleasure; it nurtures you in every way. The best part of being a designer is that it’s dynamic. This way, new materials, production techniques and trends are born constantly. Lighting has a big effect on spaces. I usually prefer using my own fixtures to do the lighting of the places I design. I use natural materials like wood, brass and marble. I believe in creating timeless products. I think, a good design should include the blend of aesthetics, material and function. To become a classic, it should be a unique product that is not a part of a trend.” Şener thinks that being an artist and being a designer have many things in common. “However, the difference is a designer takes functionality into consideration as well as aesthetics. In my opinion, a designer should have no limits but design real products being in full knowledge of today’s production techniques and access. The more people a product reaches, the more successful it can be considered as. Because of increasing globalization, designs should include localization. It’s impossible for a person to be is olated from the location he/she was born and raised, and that’s a natural thing. Global designs should be enriched and differentiated with local elements. I follow all trends but I intend that my designs would not be a direct messenger of a trend. I’ve focused on space design lately but designing seats and lighting fixtures for places I design is a complementary factor. And I believe everything you dream of is real.”
