Long renowned for the quality of its textiles, HOSOO has partnered with Copenhagen’s OEO studio to launch “Prologue” in Milan last month. At once an aesthetic object as well as a functional one, the screen can serve as a freestanding element or be mounted on a wall or ceiling. Each Nishijin textile is woven with gold and silver washi paper threads to achieve a series of unique pieces, 20 of which were exhibited during the Fuorisalone. Framed in natural ash wood, the textile comes in 15 varieties, with two or more tones each.

HOSOO produces traditional Nishijin textiles with weaving and dying techniques that are upwards of a century old. Founded in 1688, the Kyoto-based textile company has worked with the Danish strategic design agency since 2011, translating the materials for high-end interiors and fashion.

The HOSOO x OEO collection debuted at the TATRAS showroom in Zona Tortona, where the eponymous fashion brand also presented its new Tango Tango collection, also made with Nishijin textiles.
