As part of Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair 2016, Kasthall took the opportunity to present the 2016 collection. This collection was to design something new, something that has never been done or seen before. It was to evoke new emotions and get the viewer to stop and look twice. Kasthall started to develop new yarn blends, patterns and colours. With the chief designer Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg as team leader, sharing her knowledge, and curiosity the design team outwitted the techniuque and found new ways of creating patterns and surfaces. It was the occasion to pesent the collection as a tribute to the designer Ullberg – unfortunatly just died from her battle against cancer. During her 28 active years in the company, she made a significant design statement both in Sweden and internationally. Despite her severe illness she worked with Kasthall’s design and figuration to the very end.

The designer has captured the beautiful seasons, and the ever-changing landscape of the Swedish archipelago. The rug is hand tufted in the finest wool and linen with sparkling touches of Lurex. Bright Archipelago March is reminiscent of a chilly spring day, when the air is clear and the sun shines in the sea and dark Archipelago November is inspired by a sombre November day when the autumn sun spreads its golden glow.

The collection will be also launch, during the Salone del Mobile 2016, in two models, Archipelago March inspired by a cool early spring day and a darker carpet that reminds one of a beautiful autumn day.
