LA Art Show This Week
Kicking off on Wednesday January 11, is the 22nd annual LA Art Show. Here’s a preview of what will be on display in the city of angels
More than 100 galleries from over 20 countries and 70 000 attendees are anticipated at the biggest yet Los Angeles Art Show, running from January 11 to 15. Not only are the number of participants increasing, but also the footprint of the fair, which is using a thematic focus on Latin American art to include some of the city’s most prestigious museums.
A new emphasis has also been placed on post-war modern and contemporary artwork at the LA Art Show. However a curated section of historical dealers from the old Los Angeles Fine Art Show will present 18th Century European, Contemporary Realism, California Plein Air and Hudson River School paintings on the ROOTS platform.
For the third time, the Korean art movement of Dansaekhwa monochrome painting will be highlighted in an exhibition curated by SM Fine Art Gallery. A highlight on the four-day programme of talks, Dialogs, is a discussion with leading art collector Chara Schreyer and interior designer Gary Hutton who over 40 years have collaborated on producing five residences designed to house 600 artworks.
