Exhibition Mademoiselle Privé at Saatchi Gallery in London is a journey to the spirit of Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld through haute couture, high jewellery and a portrait gallery of celebrities photographed at Coco Chanel’s apartment.

The fashionistas’ dream exhibition runs along three floors of the gallery. A series of rooms familiarize visitors with Coco Chanel’s apartment and the most symbolic places, such as her first boutique in Deauville and her trips to Venice and Scotland. The exhibition immerses a visitor with her fascination with diamonds, continues with Chanel °5 perfume laboratory experiments, and highlights the craftwmanship of the fashion house in workshops open for visitors of all ages. A photo gallery portrays actresses, models and friends of the house ranging from Julianne Moore to Lily-Rose Depp photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, head designer of the fashion house.

The first floor highlights the savoir-faire of Chanel’s haute couture and re-editions of Bijoux de Diamants, a high jewellery collection now presented for the first time in London. Created by Coco Chanel, the collection was due to be exhibited in the UK capital in 1932, but was stopped by the stringent British Custom’s regulations. At Saatchi Gallery, Bijoux de Diamants is complimented by haute couture pieces designed by Karl Lagerfeld exclusively for the exhibition.

Mademoiselle Privé also spreads outside the gallery in forms of a contemporary English garden and a formal French 18th century garden inspired by interlocking C’s of the house of Chanel. The English garden, designed by landscape architects Harry and David Rich of Rich Landscapes, takes a visitor through three parts of the garden depicting Gabrielle Chanel’s life through three themes: Liberty for desire for freedom, love of her life Boy Capel and Leo, an astrological star sign and a symbol of Coco Chanel’s strength.
