Martino Gamper Curates Seeds 3
An unusual collective of designers, curated by Martino Gamper, have used clay to stretch the boundary between art and design.
Consciously exploring the disciplinary fluidity between design and art, Seeds London focuses on clay and collaboration in its third season, running until January 20. Curated by Italian designer Martino Gamper, a group of designers who are friends but have never worked together, came together as a disorderly collective, aptly titled No Ordinary Love.
The result highlights inconsistencies in the design system. Questions of authorship, competition, gesture, individuality, cooperation, anonymity, signature and adjustments were brought to the fore in the clay experiments by Gamper, Tiago Almeida, Faudet Harrison, Lars Frideen, Max Frommeld, Arno Mathies, Gemma Holt, Jochen Holz, Max Lamb, Will Shannon, Silo Studio, Harry Thaler and Bethan Wood. This contrasts the collection of authored design objects by participants, also on display.
Seeds is an experimental production, gallery and retail space where everything is for sale. Prices are determined by the questions that arose during the collaboration.
