With her new collection of objects for NextLevel Gallery entitled “Skins”, Bina Baitel continues a project of light begun in 2007 with the support of the VIA. In Baitel’s work, lighting transcends the interaction between light and material by combining technological innovation and the highest quality French handcraft.  Her lamps become a rug – the rug lamp, Snug – or an open surface – the side lamp, Pad.  Skin makes this hybridization between the light source and the flat surface possible.  The skin is no longer just an envelope but the essence itself of the object.
