MUDAM Celebrates 10 Years with New Exhibitions
Luxembourg’s MUDAM celebrates its tenth anniversary with a two-day extravaganza this weekend, including the openings of the exhibitions “Wim Delvoye” and “Tempting Art”.
Looking to party all night in Luxembourg this weekend? Look no further than the Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art in Luxembourg (MUDAM), which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this month with a two-day extravaganza, including several exhibition openings and performances. From 11am today, Saturday, 2 July, to 6pm on Sunday, 3 July, visitors can enjoy a jam-packed schedule of programming, including the openings of the exhibitions “Wim Delvoye” and “Tempting Art“, among others.
The former exhibition fittingly marks the occasion, as the MUDAM opened with Wim Delvoye’s “Chapel” (pictured at left). Indeed, the Ghent-based artist has developed a number of works in collaboration with galleries and institutions in Luxembourg over the course of 25 years of creative output. The new retrospective occupies two floors of the museum and is arranged according to four themes: “The Invention of the Everyday”, Origins”, “Ornament is a crime”, and “Monuments”.
Food and design have at least one thing in common: Everyone consumes them, but only a lucky few can earn a living from making it. In a new exhibition at MUDAM, initiators Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman have invited 22 fellow artists, designers, and creatives of all stripes to create “Tempting Art“. Produced with the support of Valcucine, the exhibition consists of an imaginary three-course menu that is meant to be a feast for the eyes.
