CDW2015: The Invisible Store of Happiness by Sebastian Cox & Laura Ellen Bacon
During this year’s CDW – Clerkenwell Design Week from 19 to 21 May 2015, London – two of the UK’s brightest talents – furniture designer/maker Sebastian Cox and artist Laura Ellen Bacon – will mount The Invisible Store of Happiness. This unique experiment will bring together two personalities in guise of celebrating wood and craftsmanships. Sebastian Cox is passionate about the sustainability of English coppiced hazel nut-wood. The installation will also give new value to maple and cherry, both beautiful and yet under appreciated American hardwoods, and to create a three-dimensional form. To meet this challenge, Sebastian Cox will collaborating with artist Laura Ellen Bacon, known for abstract willow sculptures – another surprising choice.
“ My motivation is putting money back into the woods by making objects that people want to buy. ” – Sebastian Cox
