Ventura Lambrate : New Exhibitors and Themes
There’s only one month until Ventura Lambrate takes Milan by storm. Running from 14 until 19 April 2015, the multifaceted event will highlight two additional themes including Fashion and the Untapped Potential of Materials – covering mediums that are worth investigating in their own right and undiscovered potential. With this approach, materials are getting smarter, expanding and pushing boundaries. From using natural beetroot dye to shaping marble, designers are deepening their expertise. For this theme, several exhibitors such as Edelkoort Exhibitions and Craafts will play-on contemporary-cum-traditional craft techniques that are applicable in furniture and fashion; remodeling both fields. Here are some of the newly announced exhibitors:
Studio Laura Daza works with a yellow pigment that transforms into a reddish-brown when heated. The artisan colour technique was widely used during the Renaissance.

Pleunie Buyink’s liquid-like Limber Gems – pieces of jewellery for the home – will also be on show Ventura Lambrate. The Design Academy Eindhoven graduate has perfected ‘gems’ to look like solid metal – what are actually made out of bendable rubber composite.

Ventura Lambrate will incorporate different perspectives on fashion – as the industry continues to intermingle with industrial, furniture and interior design sectors. As familiar industrial conditions disappear, designers strive to bring back exceptional craft-led techniques. During the event, this emerging phenomenon will be referenced through a unique exhibition on show at the Via Cletto Arrighi location. For example Craafts – a company specialised in craftsmanship for haute couture and furnishings – founded after working with the likes of Prada, Gucci, Céline and Alexander McQueen . This is the reason why Craafts will display a variety of handmade items featuring diverse techniques and materials within an iron-framed installation.
