HEAD Geneva’s The Animal Party at Milan Design Week 2015
Playing-on both festive and political interpretations of title The Animal Party, HEAD Geneva (University of Art and Design) took-on Milan Design Week 2015 and Ventura Lambrate for it’s 6th annual exhibtion – a refreshing offering, amidst the abundance of food-design oriented showcases, that matched witty content with a conducive obstacle course-like scenography. 25 built to digital product, accessory, jewellery, space, fashion and furniture designs – developed by bachelor students in a workshop held by Mathieu Bassée – addressed our relationship with domestic animals but also their rights. Curated by Alexandra Midal with scenery developed by students of HEAD’s Masters in Spaces & Communication programme, the entirely in-house or in-school produced exhibtion featured everything form a lounge henhouse – permitting cohabitation – to a oilskin trench protecting dogs from rain and a modular rodent cage. Not to mention a chrome almost-brooch-like alternative to leather hoods – used by to train eagles.
