Set to open next Friday, 22 April, the 34th edition of Art Brussels will see a number of new initiatives, not least of which is a new venue. The historic former industrial warehouses of Tour & Taxis will host the three-day event, one of the longest-running art fairs in Europe. Hailing from 28 countries, the 141 participating galleries are presented in one of three main sections — the new Rediscovery section joins Prime and Discovery — with a dedicated Solo section for single-artist exhibitions.

The Artistic Programme sees the debut of the new sculpture route, featuring special installations from a dozen international artists, alongside the exhibition Cabinet d’Amis: The Accidental Collection of Jan Hoet. As a tribute to the late Belgian curator Jan Hoet (1936–2014), the exhibition includes never-before-exhibited works that represent his close workng relationships with artists such as Joseph Beuys, Richard Prince, and Marlene Dumas. Curated by Katerina Gregos, Artistic Director of Art Brussels, the exhibition explores Hoet’s curatorial trajectory through an eclectic personal collection, best characterized by gifts from artists.

These new projects join existing programming such as the not-for-profit section, film programme, and ING Lounge, as well as the de rigueur readings and debates. Learn more about the participating artists, galleries, and programming at the Art Brussels website.

Through her unique processes that build up and take away materials, her work refers to the growth of nature and its destruction. They are like a metaphor of life, which advances by adding experiences and the subtractive experience of time. All of the work is about finding the balance point between those extremes.
