Cassina: Jaime Hayon’s Le Corbusier-Inspired Collection
Honoring the 50th anniversary of Le Corbusier’s death, Jaime Hayon debuts his wood-infused Poetic Reaction collection, developed by Cassina. Inspired by organic forms found in Le Corbusier’s architecture, four centerpieces, composed in two bean-shaped rooms, present two small ash black-stained wooden table with a low-gloss finish. Alongside this anniversary collection, Cassina also celebrates 50 years of the LC Collection – developed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand – through a series of cultural event and product innovations.
“I wanted to create functional objects for the modern home, trays and small tables as sculptural elements, incorporating shapes, light and shadow,” Jaime Hayon described. “The requirement to use only one subject and one finish was very strict, almost like a religious challenge, using my own design philosophy. I now believe that this restriction was more of a chance to understand the true beauty of wood and mastery of carpentry Cassina.”
