For the second edition of the “Across Chinese Cities” collateral event of the Venice Architecture Biennale, Beijing Design Week has organized CHINA HOUSE VISION at the Ca’ Tron palazzo. The ongoing program continues its pioneering research on urbanism in China today by partnering with House Vision, a Pan-Asian multidisciplinary platform launched in Japan in 2013. Working with House Vision initiators Kenya Hara and Sadao Tsuchiya in Japan from 2013, Beatrice Leanza (Creative Director of BJDW) and Michele Brunello (Partner at DONTSTOP Architettura) have curated an exhibition of projects that were over a year in the making.

Responding to a brief to explore in ‘applied futurity’ in domestic habitation, the 14 participating firms presented their findings at a symposium in January 2016. “Across Chinese Cities – China House Vision” marks the first exhibition of this research and is organized by five different themes: The Hybrid Unit, Dematerialized Space, Rural Frontiers, Community Plus, and Home Kitchen.

The China House Vision projects are exhibited alongside an overview of the House Vision program as well as a preview of the second edition of House Vision Japan, to be unveiled in Tokyo in August 2016.

Full list of participating firms: Approach Architecture Studio, Atelier Deshaus, Atelier FCJZ, Atelier Fronti, AZL Architects, Beijing Centre for the Arts (in collaboration with Kengo Kuma, Winy Maas, and Au Yeung Ying Chai), B.L.U.E. Architecture Studio, Crossboundaries Architects, MAD Architects, NEXT Architects, Trace Architecture Office, URBANUS, ZAO/standardarchitecture.
