diptyque Christmas with Pierre Marie
The festive season collection of diptyque candles this year include a miniature theatre and fairy tale by Pierre Marie.
Christmas is in the air and what better way to get in the mood than with a limited-edition diptyque candle by Pierre Marie.
A Parisian graphic designer and illustrator, Marie is known for his delightfully whimsical narrative and embellished fashion and decor applications. He has worked with brands such as Issey Miyake, agnès b, Hermès and Veuve Clicquot, and has collaborated with diptyque numerous times before. The history of diptyque, with its elements of nature, folklore and animated films, is always of particular inspiration for him.
For the 2016 winter collection, Marie was inspired by the little paper theatres sold by the three diptyque founders from the 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain store in the 1960s. With the assistance of artist Ahmed Terbaoui, a founding fairy tale in three acts was created.
The three candles each emit an evocative seasonal scent. A spice-tinged fragrance combining incense, elemi and cloves is released by the blue candle, leaving a lingering hint of vanilla in the air. Evoking the inviting smell of gingerbread, the red candle releases a blend of sparkling star anise, comforting cinnamon and warm notes of honey. The fresh aroma of the green candle is a charming combination of resin, cedar and mysterious patchouli flourishes.
