Letting pen, intuitive flow and graphic experimentation lead the way – Warsaw-based Maria Jeglinska’s versatile approach allows her to tackle a large spectrum of activities from curation, scenography to furniture and accessory design. “My main motor is curiosity,” the dexterous designer reveals. “I’m interested in context, the medium is consequential.” With studies at ESAD in Reims and Lausanne-based ECAL, Jeglinska’s training continued with Konstantin Grcic, Galerie Kreo in Paris and Alexander Taylor. A strong international base that allowed her to found her own practice Office of Design and Research in 2010. Having grown up in France (her father was directing the Polish Bookstore in Paris), she returned to her ancestral Warsaw two years ago to explore this city and country’s potential. “There isn’t much of a design scene yet,” she explains, “people are still discovering an object-based culture. What’s great is that there is a really strong energy, a need to catch up and recreating a certain continuity with modern design.”
