Muller Van Severen’s Studies for Office
Valerie Traan is pleased to present a new series of furniture and lighting by design duo Muller Van Severen. The Studies for the Office KGDVS Solo House are meant to convey a sense of openness, such that a wire mesh material is rendered in simple geometric forms that mark the studio’s signature aesthetic.
The distinctive pieces were originally commissioned by the owner of the Solo Houses, a Spanish estate featuring architectural holiday homes, the first of which was completed in 2013. The striking Pezo von Ellrichshausen design is the first of 12 Solo Houses that will be built in Matarraña, between Barcelona and Valencia. Upon an invitation from the client, Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen have designed the new pieces expressly for a new dwelling by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen — Hannes’ brother — which will be second of the Solo Houses
The Antwerp gallery has presented the furniture and lighting of Muller Van Severen since 2011, with several pieces available via the new brand valerie_objects. The wireS# pieces will be on view until 25 June in anticipation of the completion of the OFFICE 130: Solo House in October, for the 25th edition of the Biennale INTERIEUR 2016 in Kortrijk, Belgium.
