During the international interiors fair Imm Cologne 2016, the exclusive German textile manufacturer Nya Nordiska designed the Das Haus’ project by Sebastian Herkner with textiles and patterns. The space-creating function of materials in decor will be pushed to its limits, as the installation involves over 1,000 square metres of material provided by Lower Saxony manufacturer. This collaboration is not the first one because last year the young designer designed Nya Nordiska’s trade fair stand for IMM Cologne 2015, and he has also been regularly involved in developing the company’s collections.

Das Haus showned Herkner’s vision of a landscaped interior in the experimental space of the trade fair. The Ideal House is projected as a sensual experience of an inside and outside. It could change like a chameleon from soft and aromatic to colourful and communicative. It’s flowing and fluid architecture plays with light and perspectives, addressing all the senses in the experiencing process. Dominated by textiles and patterns infused with natural and artificial light, Herkner’s design also features a selection of his own furniture mixed with favourite pieces created by other designers.

We were looking for some attractive and special materials that would add a uniquely tactile quality to “Das Haus”. We want it to be a house that appeals to a person’s senses. ” – Sebastian Herkner

We and Sebastian Herkner are very pleased about this prestigious piece of work for the furniture trade fair in Cologne. We value his special intuition for materials and tactile qualities and above all his talent to create such surprising breakthroughs with a range of materials.” – Remo Rontgen, Nya Nordiska owner

This year Herkner designed again for Nya Nordiska an textiles installation which showned at the Rheinpark Pavillon “The View – Cologne” during the fair just in front of the “Das Haus”, in Hall 2.2, at Pure Edition.
