Prix Pierre Bergé & associés/ Nathalie Dewez
When opening a salesroom on the Grand Sablon in Brussels in 2006, auction house Pierre Bergé & associés decided to develop auctions of contemporary artists and designers and to promote these by means of different initiatives. Nowadays, sales of contemporary art, photography, jewelery and design furniture, represent almost half of the activity of the auction house. Besides that, the organization houses exhibitions, edits limited editions and organizes competitions. In 2009, the 1st Prix Talent Pierre Bergé & associés has been assigned to Guus van Leeuwen for his animal-shaped radiators and to Camille Scherren for her computer pop-up animation. This year the auction house collaborated with Brussels’ centre de la mode et du design in order to promote the 25 designers of the 101% designed in Brussels selection. A jury of national and international specialists in the fields of arts an design selected lighting designer Nathalie Dewez and rewarded her with 5000 euros in cash to develop prototypes. In september 2011, Pierre Bergé & associés will host an exhibition on the designer’s work.
Dewez is a busy bee: her lamp ‘Balance’, edited by Established & Sons, will be presented in Milan as well as a new version of the suspension light ‘Ellipse’. She’s also designing ten lights made-to-measure for the ‘Senteurs d’Ailleurs’ shops that’ll open in June in Brussels and a pendant for the MUDAM!
