UMPRUM Glass Studio Presents Manifesto
Continuing its recent success in Milan, the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM) was represented by its Studio of Glass — one of 23 studios at the Academy. Led by Roni Plesl for seven years now, the department presented “Manifesto“, interpreted both as declaration and critique. Similarly, the exhibition is intended both to express the methods and principles of the studio itself — namely, to challenge expectations and push boundaries — while also showcasing the students’ individual talent.
The presentation from 12–17 April marked the latest edition of the exhibition that debuted at Prague’s Gallery ZIBA and the Museum of Decorative Arts at Pillnitz Castle, near Dresden. Realized in collaboration with creative group Okolo, Manifesto included new work from the winter semester alongside previously shown works from the participating designers: Lukáš Novák, Lukáš Houdek, Dominika Petrtýlová, Jakub Petr, Sebastian Kitzberger, Eduard Seibert, Kateřina Handlová, Eliška Motlová, Barbora Štefánková, Lenka Husárková, Eliška Monsportová, Kristýna Venturová, and Petra Tomišová. Plesl served as Artistic Director, supported by assistants Klára Horáčková and Marcel Mochal, while Okolo’s Adam Štěch curated the show.
