Yesterday, at Artcurial, it was the first sale of Scandinavian design and the sales exceeded the overall estimate, with 70% of lots sold, and no less than three auction records (world for Otto Schulz; French for Finn Juhl and Borge Mogensen). Even the fact that Artcurial has always included in its sales of Scandinavian design pieces, it was the time to dedicate a specific sale to the Scandinavian Design to offer a complete vision of this design. The consultant Aldric Speer selected parts of the Nordic (Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway) where known that deserve to be discovered or rediscovered. So this first sale was marked by numerous unique pieces, rarely seen on the market, that illustrate all the trends of Scandinavian Design. The lucky buyers are both European, Australian and also International collectors.

“I think the challenge is won! We wanted, with this first sale, display our ambition: to wear the colors of the Scandinavian Design, as Artcurial has done for many years for the historic French Design. Tonight, the high quality of the parts we have brought together and placed Artcurial price achieved at the heart of this market demand. The success of this inaugural session, with the participation of many international bidders, confirming the relevance of the vision of Scandinavian Design we want to defend with passion. Several important pieces go back tonight in important private collections. ” – Aldric Speer
