The RESTAURANT by Caesarstone & Tom Dixon
Quartz manufacturer Caesarstone is pleased to present the RESTAURANT, an interactive installation by Tom Dixon, at the historic Rotonda della Besana in Milan.
Following on last year’s collaboration with Philippe Malouin, quartz manufacturer Caesarstone is pleased to present an interactive installation by Tom Dixon at the Fuorisalone. Taking over the Milan Children’s Museum (MUBA) at the historic Rotonda della Besana, the RESTAURANT comprises four thematic kitchens, based on the elements — Earth, Fire, Water, and Air — featuring food designs by Francesca Sarti of Arabeschi di Latte.
The venue, a cloister that dates back to the 17th century, affords an ideal setting for the cruciform-shaped arrangement of the four kitchens. Dixon has designed each dining hall with colors and materials based on each element, collectively showcasing the versatility and design potential of Caesarstone surfaces. The Earth kitchen is inspired by ancient Roman aqueducts; Fire, by charred wood and smoke; Water, by frozen ice; and Air,
The sources of inspiration vary from Ancient Roman aqueducts for the “Earth” kitchen to charred wood and smoke for “Fire”; frozen ice and urban architecture inform the “Water” and “Air” kitchens. The palette, materials, and culinary offerings all serve to express these themes.
