Celebrating his 80th birthday this autumn, Belgian visual artist Piet Stockmans presents a new publication as well as a new exhibition in the former metal warehouse of the Winterslag coal mine, which coincidentally, is where his studio, Studio Pieter Stockmans, is also located.

On her old wooden loom, Marie Hazard weaves stories with miles of thread. Through a long and complex process, she brings together traditional hand weaving techniques and digital printing technology to explore contemporary social and cultural conditions.

Paul McCarthy

This month brings not one, but two exhibitions highlighting Paul McCarthy’s visceral, often hauntingly humorous multi-faceted artistic practice.

Belgian artist Jos Devriendt is renowned for his ceramic mushroom lamps; minimalist and iconic contemporary sculptures that are conceptual and functional. Now a year into his third curatorial “season” at La Verrière Hermès, TLmag caught up with French curator Guillaume Désanges to discuss the influences behind their latest exhibition ‘Musa Nuit’ – leading to a conversation about challenging dominant social and political structures and art’s role within them.
