TLmag 32 Extended: Contemporary Applied

These are the final weeks to apply for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2024. Entries to the seventh edition of the prize will be accepted until 25 October 2023.

In an interview which appeared in the A/W 2019 issue of TLmag32: Contemporary Applied, Lise Coirier spoke with Brussels-based designer Sébastien Caporusso about his design practice that is rooted in master craftsmanship and noble materials. Spazio Nobile Gallery is presenting Caporusso’s Luna Rosso dining table, part of his Intermezzo Collection, during PAD Paris, March 29-April 2, 2023.

One of the most anticipated craft prizes of the year since its launch in 2016, the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize is now accepting submissions for the 2023 edition.

Since its launch in 2016, the annual Loewe Craft Prize has put a spotlight onto the world’s most talented, innovative and exciting craft artists working in all range of materials such as ceramics, glass, lacquer, bamboo, paper or horsehair.

After its inaugural exhibitions in June, mudac, the Museum for Contemporary Design and Applied Arts, will present its first major exhibition, A chair and you, which will take over the entirety of the museum’s new exhibition halls in the heart of Lausanne’s new arts district, plateforme 10.

As their exhibition, Next of Europe, part of the 2022 Venice edition of Homo Faber was getting underway, Stefano Boeri and Jean Blanchaert spoke with TLmag about their vision on craft and the importance of supporting master artisans around the world.

Anders Herwald Ruhwald on what drew him to the work of Swedish modernist ceramicist, Carl-Harry Stålhane, and how his current exhibition, “Ruhwald vs. Stålhane”, explores this relationship through clay and glazing. The exhibition, curated by Love Jönsson, is on view at the Rian Design Museum through April 24th.

”It is about making sculptures with constraints”, TLmag spoke to Benoît Maire about the new show at Galerie Nathalie Obadia and his practice.

Contemporary Czech glass art has created a major imprint in the world, and today is pulsating, full of life, and a vibrant component of the global scene. This new generation of glass artists is defined by a sense of artistic restlessness – a generation searching and experimenting.
